Montana Carbon Offsets was started by two PH.D. earth scientists - a
geologist and a geophysicist. As earth scientists, we became concerned
about climate change that we could observe in where we live and the places
that we do our field work. We also have a home base in a small, rural
community, and are acutely aware of astronomically rising energy costs for
schools, businesses, and homes.
We decided that we
needed to work towards mitigating climate change, and at the same time help
to alleviate the impact of energy costs.
Consequently, we decided that by using carbon
offsets, we could then fund projects such as Montana's Fuel for Schools and
Beyond, and other, distributed energy projects. We are initially
focusing funding on Montana projects, but look toward expanding our project
funding to other western U.S. projects in the future.

Carbon Offsets is a part of Whitehall Geogroup, Inc., which is based in
Whitehall, Montana. Because of our training and interest in earth
science we also post the website -
